Living Sustainably with Organic Food in Ronda
We are supporters of the Slow Food movement, to explain briefly, it’s the philosophy of only cooking with products that are locally sourced, of high quality and maintain the traditional cuisine of the area. It’s very important to us that we support our local community and so we only use organic products and things grown in our own organic garden, and we encourage you to do the same!
Also, the Slow Food philosophy means only working with seasonal ingredients. Because of this we recommend making different recipes during autumn, winter, spring and summer. Spain is renowned for its healthy yet delicious cuisine, so below we have included some suggestions of our favourite traditional Spanish dishes, so that you can have a taste of Spain at home!
During the cooler months in Ronda, you will find a delicious variety of stews on the menu. Potatoes, pumpkins, asparagus and artichokes are at their best during this period, and also certain beans, chickpeas and lentils. To make the best of the organic food in Ronda we suggest trying these recipes:
I. Organic Food in Ronda: Alboronia
This dish is a hearty and delicious stew that consists of chickpeas, potatoes, and pumpkin, and never fails to warm you up on a chilly day. It is seasoned with black pepper, cumin and chilli powder.
II. Organic Food in Ronda: Asparagus Soup
Another of our favourite recipes of this season, with asparagus harvested directly from the countryside.
During the warmer months, the thick stews are replaced by light and cooling foods. There are many fruits that are ripe and fresh in summer: apricots, plums, raspberries, melon, and peaches are all at their best. You will find a lot of dishes made with tomatoes, green beans cucumbers and peppers too. To enjoy this organic food in Ronda at its freshest, we recommend these recipes:
III. Organic Food in Ronda: Gazpacho
This recipe is possibly the most famous of them all and is made with tomatoes and cucumber. It is served as a cold soup, so it is perfect for cooling down on a hot day.
IV. Organic Food in Ronda: Stuffed peppers
This recipe is sweet and tasty and uses red peppers that are stuffed with the best ingredients from the garden. It is perfect for a snack on a summer’s day.
